Phoenix Zoo School
Edison offers a K-4 program that partners with the Phoenix Zoo as the District’s Zoo School. The program uses the design of the zoo’s different habitats and ecosystems to bring reading, writing, science, and math to life. Through field experiences at the zoo and hands-on learning at school with zoo staff, students learn how our natural habitats can provide us and our animal neighbors with nutritious meals and adaptive spaces that allow us to flourish. Garfield will serve as the middle school for Edison students.
Project Orangutan
In May 2026, Edison’s 4th graders brought classroom learning to life during an unforgettable overnight experience at the Phoenix Zoo! Through our District's Zoo School partnership, students studied orangutans, created behavioral enrichment activities for the orangutans, and proudly presented their ideas to zoo guests. It was a hands-on learning adventure they’ll never forget. The project turned their learning into a real-world experience.
